10636776_10204645998327845_5332664663326147317_oWe will also have special 5Rhythms® Movement Meditation and Dance workshops. The 5Rhythms is a simple, powerful moving meditation that anyone – of any age, size, or physical ability – can practice. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. The only requirement is a body that is still breathing, a heart that is still beating, and mind that is still curious!
 
Just like light, sound or ocean waves, a dancing body when moving freely passes through 5 distinct rhythmic patterns. These patterns continuously repeat themselves in a wave of motion.The 5Rhythms are:

* FLOWING – the fluid, continuous, grounded glide of our own movements – Flowing teaches us our relationship to listening in and following our body language. It shows us how we move without attachment to outcome.

* STACCATO – the percussive, pulsing beat that shapes us a thousand different ways. Staccato teaches us our relationship to expressing our truth in each moment with clarity. It shows us how to be expressed without creating tension.
* CHAOS – the rhythm of letting go, releasing into the catalytic wildness of our dance that can never be planned or repeated. Chaos teaches our relationship to surrender versus control. It shows us where we are still holding on and how to surrender into freedom.
* LYRICAL – the rhythm of trance, where the weight of self-consciousness dissolves, where we lighten up and disappear into our own uniqueness. Lyrical teaches us our relationship to moving with ease. It shows us where we get stuck in needing “to do” and shows us how to simply allow.

When the outside stimulation softens, do we numb out or are we still here. Curious. Listening. It shows us how to cultivate the wisdom within and distill our truth of body/heart/mind and spirit.There is magic in expressing ourselves through the dance, however our body temple is also a source of limitless wisdom, once we have cultivated the skills of listening.

We will use the simple but profound 5Rhythms Movement Mediation map to tune into this language and ultimately begin to attune ourselves toward its subtle frequency, so that we may begin access the greater intelligence of the body, which is literally our birthright.
 
The Rhythms show us our starting place on this journey. The body cannot lie. It has no ego to satisfy or satiate. In the dance we can unlock that innate body wisdom. From within the body temple we can find the personal answers to our deepest questions and secret longings.
